More reading on this.

ATK alleges that CK basically stole the whole business when he left, including some staff, suppliers, an office, and TV and radio contracts. It's a fascinating read and will make someone a good magazine article at some point:

If they can show he used ATK resources while employed by ATK to build Milk Street, that makes him stupid and in a quite poor legal position from what I've seen.

Paul,

Based on the text of the complaint, apparently they have an email trail; it looks like he used the ATK email server to do some of his recruiting and arrangements for Milk Street. (hint, everybody: "deleting" the mails off the work server does *not* cover your tracks. Just sayin')

On the other hand, he wasn't an ordinary employee, but a "partner", so heck if I know how the law works here. On the third hand (foot), though, apparently they have Baldino dead to rights on this one; she was an ordinary employee and apparently helped him build Milk Street while an employee.

Yah, I'm curious how it will work with his status as well. Hard to tell whether its worse or better. There has to be quite a bit of precedent out there (he is hardly the first partner to go rogue..), alas I am not a lawyer just law-curious.

IF you have the time, the comment section is quite an interesting read.

I will never understand the cult of Christopher Kimball.

Well, CI did introduce me to a much higher level of cooking and the results were very impressive to our friends and ourselves. I outgrew it and moved on to more advance techniques and dishes but prior to CI, I didn't really understand very much about cooking and all that it can entail.

I still have and use many of the suggested equipment pieces. Though some of those were disappointing, most performed very well. This taught me to notice the differences that quality can make.

However, the folksy editorials were pure 'forest compost' :o
