FTR, I do not get this publication, but Honey took the day off, and likes watching the telly in the a.m., so we were watching Morning Joe, and a guy was on from Atlantic Monthly talking about this, and they were all talking about the Food Channel, and the absurdity of it. Thought you might be interested........http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2011/01/the-moral-crusade-against-foodies/8370/

Hmm, think B.R. Myers' ex might be a foodie?

After skimming 3 or 4 pages I'm left with the same question as the first commenter - what's the author's point?

And equating Pollan with foodie excess is a serious misread of Pollan.

It reads like the author is a vegetarian (with food issues) who was forced to read a bunch of books about eating meat. Or, my original hypothesis, it reads like someone who just got dumped by a foodie.

Shrug.

There's always going to be someone who finds current trends offensive no matter what they are.

Thanks for posting this, Crystal. When I saw the guy on Morning Joe, I recall thinking what a sad sack he was. That's part of the reason I looked up the article, but also Joe and his side kick seemed surprised by his attitude. I guess we were all right.
