Fitzie, do the berries then stay at room temp?

We don't eat many strawberries and usually buy them for single purpose such as strawberry shortcake for the grandkids. There are rarely any leftovers. We do use the vinegar/water solution on them and refrigerate them afterward.

We eat a lot of blueberries and it works wonders for them. We also use it for raspberries and blackberries.

We do refrigerate them all after their vinegar "bath".

I always thought that strawberries, like tomatoes, shouldn't be refrigerated because they'do lose their flavor.? And what was that business with vinegar that you mentioned earlier?

The vinegar thing isn't me.

And yeah, if you're going to eat the strawberries in less than 24 hours, don't refrigerate them. However, ripe strawberries are very perishable; if you're going to keep them for more than a day, you pretty much have to put them in the fridge, even if that hurts their texture/flavor a little. But less than mold does.

FWIW, Serious Eats says you can store tomatoes in the fridge, just have to bring them back up to room temp before eating: http://www.seriouseats.com/2014/09/toma ... sults.html

Reporting back on my (non scientific) experiences with the Freshpapers.
Almost everything I've tried has had excellent results; the exceptions were strawberries (but I did not refrigerate them) and a parsley, cilantro combination. The best ones were romas, asparagus, sweet peppers, green onions, and chili peppers. I will use these papers with all my produce in the future; I believe they have at least doubled the life of the items I tried. And I intend to test some parsley again.
