On Monday the city of Irwindale sued Huy Fong Foods claiming the scent of ground peppers is a nuisance. Here's a link to the LA Times article. Might be a good idea to stock up! http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-sriracha-supply-endangered-20131030,0,6178895.story#axzz2jK8iLbfo Nance |

Noooooooooooo!!!!!!! I am going to hit the grocery store on the way home. I put that sh@t on everything! (wait, that's the Frank's Red Hot commercial). I also love their chili garlic sauce, so will stock up on that as well. |

My grocery store is already out of stock. All that was left was Lee Kum Kee. I guess everyone else beat me to it. Plus they were down to 4 jars of chili garlic sauce. |

Heh, Huy Fong is the single largest employer in Rosemead, and the largest purchaser of peppers in SoCal. There's no way that Irwindale can shut it down in any permanent way. Also, this whole thing stinks of politics: http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-m ... z2jMxqKPEE Fortunately, the judge agreed, and decided that Huy Fong will not be forced to do anything until the pepper harvest is complete: http://www.latimes.com/food/dailydish/l ... z2jMyZqC7H In the meantime, expect some blogs from The Oatmeal. |

Who knew there was still a Keynesian in California? It sure looks like the artificial Sriracha shortage has been created by and with any luck thousands of new fans will be appear. Prices will rise into the vacuum formed the apparent lack of supply. Huy Fong Foods will be a awash with cash so they can afford to buy enough politicians to make the problem go away. |

Jim, You forgot the part where Irwindale is forced to shut down the city websites because of DOS attacks by Anonymous and fans of TheOatmeal. |
