Have any of our Michigan or Canadian friends seen this berry yet? It sounds like something I'd love to bake with. http://www.npr.org/blogs/thesalt/2014/0 ... igan-farms |

I haven't, but I don't live in the metro area anymore -- more like the ass-end of nowhere area. |

I don't think I've ever seen the fresh before, only saskatoon jam, and don't even think I've tried that. Now I'm intrigued. |

Well,.......... I do live in the middle of that Province, have picked many a pail full, made jars & jars of the jam and swallowed many a 'Saskatoon pie' --- DELICIOUS! We had a bit of a trade war with Britain that no one here really cared about because we live in a land of plenty of them and if someone else is too stupid to enjoy them, c'est la vie. They grow wild everywhere; bears, deer and all the rest of the critters love them. I can't imagine any dessert lovin' not embracing these. And though I now live in the capitol, Regina, my wife and I lived in Saskatoon for many years. WHEW! More than you probably wanted to know. |

I love Saskatoon pie. They look a bit like small, purplish blueberries but have more tartness. |
