I guess the Copper River salmon had to swim to Toledo this year. $36.99/lb. :o I was going to buy some extra and freeze it, but not this year, especially since we are going to Alaska in a few weeks. I would not have bought it at all, but my newly graduated son loves it.....I think I will do the CI Soy/Maple glaze grilled recipe, it's very good. How much is everyone else paying for this liquid gold this year?

Liquid? You know you're not supposed to put salmon in the Bass-o-matic, right?

That's just for bass.

But: the West Coast drought has really hurt the salmon; some rivers aren't reaching the sea this year. So expect it to go up from $36. Heck, salmon from 100mi away is $20 for me.

Well, I've never had Copper River Salmon, went to my local fish monger, and how about that, they have some from $36/lb (CAD!). So, WTH, bought a fillet. Wow, ok, I see the appeal, that has some very serious flavour. I withheld the details from my wife (trying to remove the price/rep influence), and she was super impressed by the flavour as well. And the toddler dug into it, but she loves all salmon, so hard to say.

I picked up some Copper River Salmon yesterday at my local Costco for $14.99 lb.
Incidentally, here in Western Montana, Costco's fish is far better/fresher than I can get anywhere else, but then so is their pork and beef.
I made the mistake a while back of picking up some pork ribs at Walmart - OMG, they were dreadful, tasteless and poorly cut with lots of gristly bits. I actually ended up throwing out the remaining slab.

I have not checked Costco (not sure why), that is a good idea....I will do that today!

Paul, I'm glad you liked it. I find the flavor a little richer or something. I have had some really bad salmon over the years and the fish from the Copper River seem to be very consistent in flavor and color. I'm really hoping to have more when we are in Alaska next week!
