I'm back in Chicago, and we got take out from a gourmet place near my Mom's associated with (but separate from) a well-respected fine dining restaurant. I got the organic free-range chicken with Anson Mills polenta, goat cheese and hazelnuts. It was delicious. Probably some of the best polenta I've ever had.

Has anyone purchased from Anson Mills?

No, but this is the second time I've heard about how awesome their polenta is.

Amy, do they sell the retail products at that place? I'd love to get that integrale polenta for my parents.....as they are from Trentino. Hubby will be in Chicago in a week.

Jean,

I don't think so, but I'm picking up some dinner from there again today, so I'll inquire.

I'm with you Fitzie, their recipes sound great. I'm going to try the farro and creamed onions soon.

Amy, that was my first choice, too, and I have the onions.

thanks. If not I will order and just send to his office there. The website doesn't indicate retail presence that I could find.

Jean,

You'll need to order it. They don't carry it for retail.

Talk about your small worlds...

Kay Rentschler (recipe developer, photographer and wife of Anson Mills founder Glenn Roberts) developed a cafe in Middlebury, Vermont called the Storm Cafe.

My Mom lived in Middlebury for 18 years, and I remember when this opened. My Mom and I both loved it...great food and a stone's throw from my Mom's art shop. I've met Kay, although it was year's ago.

Edited to add: Glenn and I have exchanged a couple of emails (I had a question about doing hominy in the PC), and it turns out Kay had her art for the restaurant framed at my Mom's shop.

Jean,

Did you ever order the polenta integrale? I'm interested in trying it for the polenta/wild mushroom/goat cheese app I'm doing for the Art + Architecture event, and was wondering what you thought about it.
