Which brands do you like, and do you prefer A or B? I was using Springtree from Canada for years and years, but it's no longer available in my local stores, and hard to find online.
(NOTE: I don't have a TJ's *!$&%*@(*_&!^!

Anything rated A is what I use for pure eating, like the fabulous French Toast I had this morning. I don't worry about brand.

I only use B for cooking.

My $.02.

I like the more assertive flavor of grade B for everything. However, I don't have any recommendations on brands; I have a local vendor that I purchase from. Any brand likely to be expensive because the warm, early spring really cut into maple syrup production this year.

I tend to buy whatever is sold at the local wholesale club I happen to be a member of at the time. Usually what they sell is Grade A Dark; I'm not sure I've ever had Grade B (back when I was growing up in maple country the premium was on light, "fancy" syrups).

I buy this stuff -- Tassier's Sugar Bush linky. It's not graded, but I'd say it's about like most grade B's I've had.

Also, Sugar Bush sounds like a porn star name and I'm easily amused.

Seems like the last I got was from Trader Joe's

Grade B is much preferred in Canuckland for its more robust flavor; Grade A is quite light, almost floral. Grade B seems to go better with a hearty breakfast: flapjacks (Darcie's of course), waffles, bacon, ham, strong coffee.

I like Grade B too when I can find it, but I'll settle for Grade A dark. I find Grade A way to thin and light for my tastes (but my dad's family were sugerbushers in Ontario, so I grew up eating syrup from giant rectangular tins that they would give us, which at that time were the darker grades as Grade A light was most prized by the Americans and therefore too dear for us to eat). Sadly, I can't remember what brand name my dad's family sold under. I do know that they did the whole process from sap collection to boiling and canning themselves.

I tend to buy the President's Choice brand (which IIRC, is Grade A dark), more because it is convenient than because of anything else, but I doubt that it is available in the US.

Jewel-Osco grocery stores carry President's choice, or they did when there was still one near me.
