...and at such a modest price for 6.75 oz. Traditionally, olive branch trimmings were burned at the base of an olive tree thereby smoking the olives. It can be found at reasonable prices, but adding shipping usually brings it into another price point. It's much like the friseed smoked salt that was wonderful and decadently expensive. We also have a bottle of arzan oil that is really questionable. Tim |

I tried smoking my own olive oil, but it kept running through the grate on the smoker. |

I did once in the '70s but it was pretty lame in comparison... Mary |

So taking a bottle of good olive oil and adding a drop of liquid smoke at a time until they hit the right intensity is obviously not what they are doing, right? |

Steve, It says the natural smoking process is unique; that just might mean a drop of liquid smoke! I smoked olive oil a few years ago. It wasn't nirvana but what is? Tim |

Yeah, liquid smoke is actually a product of natural smoking, not some chemical cocktail, so technically they wouldn't be fibbing. |

Tim wrote: I smoked olive oil a few years ago. It wasn't nirvana but what is? Tim well, to hazard a guess....nirvana? (she said cheekily in answer to the question) Merstar, I can't ever see paying $25 for 6 ounces of olive oil, but that's just me. I'd probably do really good EVOO (from Greece or Italy since that's what I buy) and smoked salt if that was the profile I was going for. Wonder how long that would keep? My smoked salt is still potent (obnoxiously so) 4 years after I bought it. |

Re: Smoked Salt This salt, "fizzed" in Denmark, really is nirvana and only $15 for 1.5 ounces. http://www.salttraders.com/products/Dan ... -Salt.html We received it as a gift and couldn't stop smearing it in our mouths.... Almost as good as St. Louis style pork ribs ($3.00 for 1.5 ounces) after 6 hours at 250 degrees on pecan. That, we smear all over, if you get my meaning. Tim |

Okay, so maybe I'll try smoking some salt here. I have coconuts galore. Coconut smoked sea salt anyone? |
