Kathy, there's an article in the NY Times today about home-made dog food. Pretty interesting. It's in the Dining section. I think we'll pass!

One other teenie weenie little thing: If you have his papers, ask your vet about vet insurance. I'm not kidding. When the Golden Girl was poisoned, we got and $850 bill. This was in addition to other stuff. I would have happily paid for the insurance if I had known about it.

Interesting reading; thanks.

I've decided that paying more for a highly-rated dry dog food is a good tradeoff from the time needed to prepare food and to ensure that it's nutritionally balanced (Kathy's OK with it because Wendell's food doesn't come out of her part of the budget anyway). At his last home he had been eating Purina supplemented with meat & rice but the vet wasn't very impressed with that choice.
