We had plenty of warning so there was lots of time to prepare to be snowed in. I think NYC was more blindsided.

Nancy (Auntcy) has posted on FB and seems to having a great time of it in Manhattan.

Yes, we got blindsided in Manhattan (prediction was 6") but it was beautiful while it was snowing. Pretty treacherous today though - everything is iced over. If it wasn't shoveled last night its going to be a challenge.

An ex-coworker of mine who lives about 10 miles away still hasn't had his street plowed. They plowed my street once Friday night and again late on Saturday after the snow had stopped. The smaller streets near me didn't get plowed until this afternoon.

Counting our blessings that we got 16" rather than the 36" a friend has just 100 mies north. Our roads are plowed but we now have two of our vehicles stuck in our driveway, even after 4 of us working for more than an hour trying to get them to go either forward or back. And one has 4WD. It was like quicksand. Very bizarre. Hoping that everything freezing tonight will actually be a help. We'll see!

We got about 18" here, and fortunately, it wasn't the wet snow that they originally forecast; though this dryer snow drifts more, it doesn't have that tendency to weight down power lines.

Towns vary greatly as far as how they clear the roads. I was delivering in 6 different towns today, and 2 of them were deplorable, looking as if they had plowed once, when there was maybe 6", and never went back! I could tell, not only by all of the snow and ice in the streets, but that small pile on the side from the plows, compared to 3' or more in areas well cleared.

My rosemary was 2/3 buried, but I actually buried it the rest of the way, as it was supposed to get to the low teens last night, and I figured that would insulate it! No more nights below 20 in the 10 day, so it should be OK.
