So ... we had a bunch of fine ingredients which needed to be used and we're going to be out for the next three nights. So here I am cooking even though the humidity continues to be 110% because San Francisco has decided it wants to be New Orleans for September and my brains have turned to molasses and are dripping down my shirt collar.

So, first my sweetie boils over the rice and makes a huge mess and we have to throw it out and start over. Then I drop the whole stack of steel mixing bowls on my middle toes. Ten minutes later, an ice pack on my foot, I try to resume prep but cutting the corn kernels off the cob leads to cutting the skin off the finger. So now I have an ice pack on my toe and a bandage on my finger. And my sweetie lets me know that the boiled-over rice has damaged the burner and I'll have to take it apart and clean it and probably replace the sparker.

Time to be thankful we live in a city and can go out for tacos on 5 minutes notice. And to be even more thankful we don't have kids.

Of course, now we have to change our plans for the weekend so I can use these ingredients before they go bad, especially since now some of them are cut up.

Yes. Only mine involved singeing off most of my bangs with the green egg on Monday. I am having to do a combover with my remaining hair in the front! (Forgot to burp the egg!). Sometimes my cooking karma is just bad (!) and nothing I touch turns out...and then it passes without any apparent reason (the kitchen gods have been appeased maybe?).

Sorry to hear about your foot! (And your finger).

Oh yeah. Been there. It was super humid in Louisiana yesterday too. I felt like I was swimming.

I managed to fix my gas burner after a boil over by clearing the pin holes. I'm sure you know how. Good luck!

I opened the cooler we use to transport perishables from the grocery store and found a package of bacon that got left in there for 18 hours.

Whenever I have to add something to my big freezer it requires the rearranging of everything on that shelf because freezer is stuffed to the max.
Took out a package of beef skewer meat to cram in a couple packages of mixed veg. for the dogs*. Forgot to put the beef back in. Arghhhh!
*I make my own dogfood.

My last work month, no six weeks, has been like that. :(

Carey,

Yeah, exactly. I was like "yes, we're wasting ingredients and we won't have anything for lunch tommorrow, but if I continue we will end up setting fire to the kitchen."

Becca,

Sadly, yes I know how. This isn't the first time.

Nancy,

Post length limit is 10,000 characters. So, long stories permitted. ;-)

Lisa,

:-(

Sometimes you just have to call it a day.
