Just checking to see how everyone is doing during this cold spell through the prairies and the north east coast.... check in and let us know you are okay!
I made it to work today in decent time, thank God for winter tires. Hubby is on his way to Ottawa and I will be happy when he arrives there as I'm sure the drive will not be great. My youngest son waited a half hour for his bus since the bus company didn't bother to update the website saying that route was late. :(
But in the end we are all okay and where we are supposed to be.

I saw check-ins from Darcie, Becky & KatiePie on FB this morning. We have one day respite (42 degrees F and rain today) before the cold returns tonight. Down close to zero which isn't as bad as the frozen midwest but will probably break records here.

The good news is that Friday's snow has mostly melted.

I was wondering the same. The news is crazy and the majority of my Canadian coworkers are WFH today. Everyone be safe.

About 5" of frozen snow and -11 deg. Schools are closed. I'm getting ready to make pancakes for breakfast. Glad to hear you're all safe & sound, Jean. You must think we're a bunch of wusses, eh?

It's crazy cold here, schools are closed today, and many businesses are closed as well. But most of us are at work. Yippee.

It's cold here, but not the mind-numbing cold many of you are getting. The polar jet stream is just skirting the eastern plains of Colorado. Stay warm!

Lots of snow here. Schools are closed for the 12th day in a row. They had a snow day before the Holiday Break and Today.

-51C wind chill yesterday. Today's summary follows:
City of Regina
4:30 AM CST Monday 06 January 2014
Wind chill warning for City of Regina continued

Wind chills minus 40 to minus 50 this morning. Wind chills moderating this afternoon into tonight.

Wind chills of minus 40 to minus 50 persist across much of Southern Saskatchewan this morning as brisk northwest winds continue with temperatures near or below the minus 30c mark. At these extreme wind chill values frostbite on exposed skin may occur in 5 to 10 minutes.

Wind chills are expected to remain colder than the minus 40 warning threshold this morning before moderating this afternoon as winds drop off and temperatures slowly climb. Western regions will see moderating conditions this morning. More significant warming is expected by mid to late week across Southern Saskatchewan.

However, my wife and I were at our 6 AM workout!!
Isn't there a song titled "Baby, it's cold outside" :?:   :D

Ottawa has suddenly gone above freezing today with it expected to get a bit cold this evening (-18 C). I expect things to be very very very slippery and icy tonight. Tell your hubby to be very careful walking, especially. Also, there are ponds forming around the city on the roads (including highways), so driving can be tricky.

We seem to be out of the worst of our deep freeze and back to just too damn cold temperatures.

I suspect they will make winter tires mandatory in this region sooner or later, as it is in Quebec.

It never gets that cold here but I am freezing reading all these reports. Tea time.
