I started feeling unwell Wednesday afternoon, and haven't felt much like moving since. The thought of eating was enough to induce the queasy. I think I managed about 400 calories from Wed. through this morning. So went I left work today I got some chicken and made a pot of soup. I know I'm getting better-I was picking chunks off the soup chicken as soon as it had poached long enough to be edible.
Other useful foods I discovered for unhappy intestines:
Celery with PB. Loads of fiber helps keep food in the system and PB is nutritionally dense. Can be made in tiny bite-sized slices, too.
A spoonful of honey, followed by warm water.
Rice with a smidge of butter and salt.
The uber-cure, ginger ale.
I haven't been hit this hard by illness in years. I couldn't tell if the headache was caused by the bug, hunger, or dehydration. Until I got food down, I couldn't manage ibuprofen. That pot of soup is making me feel better just by simmering on the stove. Yesterday, the idea that people actually ate food was still impossible.

Becky,

Glad to hear you're on the road to recovery. For a number of days I couldn't even manage water. One hell of a bug, I've got to say.

So glad to hear you're feeling better Becky. It's taken me a month to get rid of what I call my "kennel cough" aka plane flu. This winter has really wreaked havoc on so many of us!

I had that bug for three days and didn't think I'd survive. Nobody was allowed near me. It was hell. So glad it's gone.

I am so glad that my sweetie dragged me to get flu shots this year. Practically everyone I know has had some kind of plague or another.

Glad you're feeling better, Becky.

Fuzzy, I got a flu shot and I still got some kind of plague--twice (just now recovering from the second, thankfully less severe, episode).

This was no influenza. And today eating normally has restarted. Also energy levels are almost fully restored. At last!
