Thinking of you all...very glad my short trip to NYC was last week.
Stay safe and let us all know how you are doing.

Power out (ugh!). Short ribs (sous vide) have another day to go. They're now at a friend's house that has a generator (they're electricity is still on) - will have tomorrow night one way or the other.

Raining really hard right now, and really windy.

Warming dinner in a friend's oven, then returning home with a very fun group. I do have a few kerosene lamps, a battery operated satellite radio box, and more wine than I know what to do with. I suspect we'll be all right - particuarly because no one can go to work tomorrow.

Hope the electricity comes on soon!

Gerard

Hope your power comes back on soon! Only two very brief outages here (seconds only), and the rain seems to be going away from this area (S Jersey, but not too far south!) after about 4" so far. 32mph wind with 44 gusts...I saw worse than that is some summer storms, when I was wondering if my tomato fences would blow down! But that was only brief, not a day and a half. I got my freezer down to -15º, in case it goes out for a while.

At least I have gas...

I hope it passes without too much damage. It seems from my facebook friends, that parts of NYC are flooded, power is out for a lot of people and my beloved Jersey beaches are being hit pretty hard. Sandy Hook supposedly had 8 foot waves which were expected to get bigger.
Hang in there Nance and everyone else (Gerard etc.).

We lost power at around 4pm today. An aged street tree fell against a neighbor's house and took power lines with it. So, I transferred my beef barley soup from the slower cooker to the stove (after manually lighting the pilot). Thank goodness for gas. At least we had dinner!

It's amazing how the storm closed down the city and surrounding areas. Eerily quiet. I heard from my son that his university (in RI) is closed tomorrow too, really unprecedented. Just hope he's using the time wisely - ha!

There are schools closed here along the shoreline in the Thumb because of the flooding and our wind is from the Northeast. The two storms aren't supposed to meet until tomorrow.

Hope all is well this morning with everyone. As a Floridian, we know hurricanes and it was really upsetting to see the damage to the NE on the news last night. May you all get power back soon!

I was one of the lucky ones, from what I can see from the news stories. Seems they got it worse at the shore (naturally), esp. up north in this state, and in NY (I was amazed at all the power outages in RI last night). My heart goes out to all those in those areas.

We are very lucky; all we got was a little wind, some rain and some very lovely unseasonably warm weather.
