Thanks Josh and Nance! We got power late last night so we moved back to our apt this afternoon - whew, this 5-floor walk-up never looked so good!!! Going to take a walk around the neighborhood today and tomorrow, instead of attending the now cancelled NY Marathon (YES for cancellation!) we'll be volunteering at a local distribution center.

And one other thing to note. Before we left the Upper East Side, Russ and I had brunch at Finnegans Wake, which is where we met 32 years ago. A nice ending...

Nance

Nance,

That is a fitting way to end your ordeal!

And, I'm very thankful Bloomberg came to his senses, just wish he'd canceled it the day after Sandy...lots of pissed off (and poorer) runners not running around NYC this weekend.

Ditto Nancy, happy to hear you have power. One of my cousin's is still in NJ while they wait for their building to power up. I keep reading stories of the devastation there and my heart goes out to my home town.

Thanks Amy!

And I completely agree with you about the cancellation. There are lots of Tri-State region folks who are also pissed off because they were ousted from their safe-havens at NYC hotels due to the influx of the Marathon runners. Hopefully, as with the ones that I know, they were able to return to their homes with power and heat restored.

I'm glad you were able to get back home!
