Yes, sadly it's true. I thank you all for your good wishes.

The day ended on a fabulous note. After dinner, my wonderful best friends gifted me with a Sous Vide Supreme, the vacuum sealer, and Thomas Keller's book, Under Pressure. It almost softened the blow of turning 60! :shock:

Now I need to read back through the Sous Vide threads and see what I can learn from you all about this dream machine.
