Until Amy gets here....I can at least tell you that the big fire you see on National news, is in northern CO and Amy is in southwestern CO....however, because of hot dry weather, all of our mountains communities are in jeopardy this fire season. Hopefully, Amy and Andy will be safe.

Thanks Becky. I'm about eight hours away from Fort Collins, but I've got to say everyone is very nervous. We had a lousy snow pack this year, a very warm Spring, and I don't remember the last time it rained. We're running under red flag warnings and extreme fire danger almost every day.

We were going to go to Paradox Valley to camp Memorial Day weekend but decided not to because it's the busiest weekend of the year on the Dolores River, which cuts across (as opposed to running the length of) the valley. Hence the "paradox." There was a 5,000 acre fire there that weekend. Glad I wasn't there.

Pray for rain.

Amy

Being the start of summer doesn't help.
I keep a fire nozzle next to the garden hose. (Peace of Mind)

Anyway, you ladies have a pleasant Father's Day.

Four new wildfires broke out in Colorado today. One is about 50 miles south of us, and we are directly in the path of the smoke. Where I normally see 14,000 foot peaks, I see only dense smoke.

It's going to be a loooooong summer unless monsoon season is kind to us.

 How are you doing with the smoke? How far away is the fire? Stay safe, I am sending positive thoughts to you.

The winds have shifted, so we're relatively smoke-free at the moment. However that could easily change. The fire has now grown to 9,000 acres and they have zero percent containment. Colorado is a tinderbox.

I think of you out there every time I hear Colorado fires mentioned in the news. Stay safe, and I hope the winds stay shifted.

Amy,

You can stay with us if you need to flee. CA is wet right now.

Warning, though, it'd be an air mattress. ;-)
