Wino....during your visit to Yountville, I highly recommend relaxing at one of the lava mud spas in Calistoga followed by a massage. And don't miss the oakville grocery...great place for picnic supplies

Carey,

Dahi Vada (lentil "doughnuts" in yogurt sauce). Glad you had a good time.

Wino,

Let us know if you come down to the city! Sadly, I'll be too busy during July to come up to Yountville. :-(

Heh, I guess I was supposed to post to this thread BEFORE I took my vacation. I was gone for a week - did anyone miss me? :)

We had a bit of car trouble on the way out (nothing says vacation like rebuilding an engine in your friend's driveway), so I didn't get to do any of the food/drink stuff I wanted :( I'm glad to be back home.

  but glad you are back safe and sound!

I will be camping as on next Monday for 5 days. No electronics allowed for parents or kids. ;-)

While I was watching a baseball game last night a commercial came on for the Chase Saphire credit card. The commercial was shot at what looks like Franklins' BBQ in Austin to me. I yelled at DH, "hey, that place is supposed to be fabulous according to my friends (thanks Amy) on Fuzzy's board." He looked at me like I had three heads, but no matter....I was excited. I think it's fun when little things like that happen........(hope to get there in Feb.)

Was it the one with Nobu?

I can't wait to get back to Austin...Franklin's is fabulous.

Amy,
Yes, it was. Has it been around for awhile? I have not noticed it on the air until yesterday here in Toledo...

Karen,

I'd not seen it until you mentioned it, so I looked it up on YouTube.

Oops, forgot to post about my St. Louis "vacation" - I was down there for a trial that was supposed to last two weeks. However, after seeing our opening and tremendous level of preparedness, the other side made an offer we couldn't refuse so the trial ended early. I am happy to be back home; trials are nerve-wracking and exhausting. But we did get to Ted Drewe's for a celebratory frozen custard and ate at a decent Italian place on The Hill.

I stopped by the American Gothic House on the way back; photo attached (it's me and my co-worker).

I thought I might get an unpaid vacation starting next week, but it turns out I am "excepted" (different than exceptional, I am sure) so even if the government shuts down I will be working. I just won't be getting paid.

Love the pic Darc! And I hope the unpaid vacation doesn't last too long...

Friends of ours are off to Hawaii in two weeks, and I realized it's been FOREVER since I've been on a real vacation, and I've got three quarters of million frequent flier miles. I NEED TO USE THEM!!!!

Think I'm kind of bouncing off the walls?
