Needed a quick dinner for my daughter and I as she has dance class tonight. I told her I hadn't been shopping and suggested. This is the conversation that followed:

Sid:"OK but I wish we could have Indian."

20 minutes later we are eating a chicken curry and rice.

Sid: "I don't get it. We have no food and you can still make a perfect curry..."

Me: "And that is why you have to learn how to cook."

Mary

PS And be sure to have Penzey's Balti seasonings on hand. I am very impressed with their curry mixes and, even though I am lazy, I have always been a grind my own spices kind of gal.

You should be able to go to the "edit" box at the bottom of your original message, click on it and then go to the very top of your message and check a box that allows you to delete. Then it will ask you for a confirmation. This should be in place until someone answers - I think.

Anyway, great story!!

So if you had no food, what did you cook? That kid needs to expand her definition of food!

She needs to expand her definition of nothing, as do certain other members of my family. Also they seem to all have a visual affliction that only allows them to see the top 2 shelves of the fridge and the bread basket.

The vision limitations sound familiar. :)

I am a rank amateur next to you guys, but I would pit my leftover skills against most comers. ;)

To quote Jerry Seinfeld ...

"... you know, he's the kind of a guy who can open your fridge, find catsup, stale crackers, marshmellow fluff and some toothpaste and somehow prepare a 3-course French dinner."

I strive to be that guy, and clearly Mary does too. I once managed a fancy pasta dinner based entirely on items I found at a British convenience store.
