Or maybe even winter?

Garlic doesn't count, even though that will be in during that time. I mean the greens and other cold weather stuff (though greens are all I do). I didn't cover them last year, though I got them into January, but this year I will cover, and hopefully have them the entire winter. And some of you are in much warmer areas than me, so you may be growing tomatoes now, if so, good for you!

Here is my winter greens album, with the last (actually, the first) 8 photos taken today, just 19 days after transplant! Swiss chard is the worst performer so far, but it is more of a warm weather crop. I really have way more greens than I know what to do with, but a lot will go into soups, since that season is upon us.

Has anyone ever make any chips from any greens other than kale? I am going to try some of the larger ones, just to see.

I will be happy if I can extend my herbs into November; other than that I am screwed for a fall garden. I could have planted some beans or greens to be ready now, but I was too busy gearing up for trial. :( At least I can garden vicariously through you.

My favorite kind of gardening! The kind I do vicariously through Dave, I mean.

Carey,

I am sure it will be much colder in your area, so they probably won't last the entire winter. But check this out - from a few years ago, after we had over 24 in. of snow, and I waited a few days before uncovering. The snow probably insulated it!

No winter garden this year....brought some tender herbs inside and the perennial herbs will be usable most of the winter. Lots of clean up on the schedule.

Last year we planted spring mix in August and harvested until Christmas. It took us longer this year to clear out the basil (in the planter that we use for the lettuce) so we didn't start the salad until the beginning of October. Maybe in time for TDay.
