Ilene, have you a recipe for the ice cream? Sounds divine.

I am growing a bumper crop of dandelions and chickweed so far. Good news is that I eat them. Chickweed is really good in salads.

All I do is use a recipe for vanilla ice cream, but steep a cup of verbena leaves in the milk before continuing with the recipe....you can do that with any herb, but I am partial to verbena

Darcie....let me clarify....in a typical vanilla ice cream recipe, you steep the vanilla bean; to make the verbena ice cream, I substitute a cup of verbena leaves, then strain the cream before proceeding with the recipe.

OK, thanks. I do the same thing for basil ice cream, just wanted to make sure there wasn't anything different for this recipe.

Just herbs and our small strawberry patch for me this year. We just don't seem to have time for a garden anymore. We used to have a huge one, but our business keeps me to busy to tend to it. I'll go to the farmers market about twice a week.

This will be my first year with no garden, I'm a little sad about that.

Added the veggies and a few more herbs: parsley, basil, french lavender, cherry tomatoes, eggplant, cukes, jalapenos, and thai dragon chili.

Happy Mothers Day to all!

I feel for you, Laurie. I am afraid this will happen to me when I get my shoulder fixed - all depends on when they schedule it. Hopefully the winter!

I got 24 of my peppers in today, my lemongrass, the rest of my eggplants, 4 types of cucumbers, 5 types of cantaloupes, one type of watermelon, plus some stevia. I would have done a bunch more, if it weren't for Mother's Day!

I saw my first tomato flowers today, on the sunsugar - traditionally my earliest plant. They are so early, in fact, that I don't really consider them my "first" ripe tomato. I am waiting to see how early some of the other cherries are.

Dave, all I can say is Wow, and are there any houses close to you for sale? :)

I'd love to put out some chives & parsley. Problem is, when I cut them, they don't come back or at least in the quantity I need. Do I need to plant tons of it to have enough for the summer?

Don't know why your chives don't come back, but parsley is a biennial, so I plant every year, because the second iteration is generally thin and bolts early and never grows thick enough

I mean when I cut them to use in a dish. If I cut a bit of chives, what grows back is just a puny little bit, not nearly as much as I cut. Same with parsley. I'd have to plant an acre of parsley to get me through the summer as it doesn't come back like, say, basil does.

I had a pot of chives that came back every year for about 10-12 years. Then it just quit.
