As I mentioned last August I have been working toward a Community garden, the plans are coming along quite nicely and we are about to start looking for funding opportunities.

You are resourceful bunch and I wanted to see if there was knowledge of grant opportunities to be pursued. I have a lady on the team (of about 40) that is very experienced in grant writing if she has targets to go after.

I can give more details if needed via P.M. We hope to plant next Spring. :D

A quick Google search of "grants for community gardens texas" revealed 2.9 million hits... :o

This "might" not be the best time to mention this given that our East Coast brethren are freezing to death but we will begin our first round of plantings (Taters & Onions) of our Community Garden tomorrow. We will be planting 1015, and purple onions and Yukon Gold, Purple Majesty, and Red Thumb fingerling potatoes.

We have 4 feet of snow, even in the places that DH shoveled me a path out to the bird feeders. We don't plant here until after the May long weekend (end of May) and even then some years we have had frost. The 100 mile diet is a recipe for scurvy in our neck of the woods.
