While $199 isn't dirt cheap, it's certainly low enough for me to say, "hmmm, that might be fun to play around with ..."

Yup, I got one. I think it will ship sometime in October or November. In the meantime, I've been using my crockpot method with decent success, but I am looking forward to something I don't have to babysit as much.

While there are applications outside of meat cookery, certainly 95%+ of the applications are meat (including fish) cookery.

Paul,

I'm not gonna get one tommorrow, partly because I'd also need a vac-packer. However, what I've seen about certain vegetables (like asparagus) looks really nice, and I would definitely like to try some fish stuff. This year, though, retirement fund comes first.
