Wow...the Spambots are up to about 25,000 posts over there. I am not a compuer genius but I think even I could figure out how to block an offensive IP address.

They have clearly invested far too much in finding the ever elusive "Perfect, Utimate, Slap yo Mama Good" Roast Chicken...

We tried, we tried, we tried to talk CI into using industry-standard BB software. I wouldn't be suprised if IdealBB doesn't have the capability to block by IP.

According to IdealBB website they do...the real question here is does ATC / CI have anybody smart enough in their non existant I.T. department to activate it.

A self-answering question I would say...

It may have seen it's last days, I can't even log on over there this morning. The Spambots may have imploded it.

I sure hope not. It was a good place for some folks to be.

To quote a wise person who said years ago:

The death is the CooksIllustrated Bulletin Board. While it is not officially deceased yet, the doctor has given it a terminal prognosis and the family is buying a casket and calling the family lawyer, caterers and florists. The CI bulletin board was a great place for us compulsive cooks to meet, chat, and form a community from 2004 to 2007. There were even in-person gatherings ...

Kinda sad given the potential it had...

I sent a note to Mari last week and she finally responded this morning. In her defense she was out the end of last week. She notified their IT department this morning. Apparently they were completely unaware that the BB crashed Thursday night. No defense there.

Logging into the CI BB yields the following message:

Quote:
We're sorry.

The Bulletin Boards are temporarily offline as we conduct maintenance and upgrades. Please check back shortly. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.

Can't wait to see what they mean by maintenance and upgrades!

Interesting Ivy. The error message I'm getting is:
