My son gave me the All-Clad pasta pot for Mother's Day. Within a couple of uses I notice what looked like pitting, discoloration and rust issues on both the pot and the insert. I contacted All-Clad. They initially said, "try cleaning with BarKeepers Friend". Really?? I have quite a bit of All-Clad pans and have never seen such a thing. They then said to send it back to them, which I did. I got a form letter from them that said it wasn't a manufacturer's defect. "Make sure I only salt the water after it is boiling, etc. " I again called them. They said a supervisor would get back to me within 24-48 hours. After 5 days, and hearing nothing I sent them an email and said I was very unhappy with their customer service. Someone called me today and said that they would, "as a courtesy", replace my pot, after I told them I knew how to salt the water and that I had used Revere Ware for 20 years with no issues and have been cooking pasta for probably 50 years and have quite a few pieces of All-Clad that have never had an issue. Not impressed. Deb

I, on the other hand, have been known to play fast and loose with when I salted the water (in my wild youth), and I know it takes more than a couple of uses to produce rust.

????

I have random cheap steel pasta pots, and I salt them however I darn well please, and never have had rust ever.

This is why I don't buy fancy expensive pots.

I'm seriously reconsidering this too. I have probably only used the pot four times. :( Deb
