For some reason the weekend after Thanksgiving has become my main canning weekend. This weekend I have made:
7 quarts of poultry stock (made yesterday, canned today and cooling) 4 quarts and 1 pint of bolognase (in the pressure canner at the moment) 6 or 7 quarts of beef stock (simmering now, will can tomorrow)
I have not touched the actual thanksgiving leftovers other than to make a sandwhich for lunch today.
What do you all have going on this weekend?

PS - This is one of those days I wished I lived a little further north. It is hot in my house with the oven on and the pressure canner going. It is over 80F in here today!

I haven't canned in a few years; I should really start again. But I'll trade you the 80 degrees for the nippy 57 degrees in my bedroom. The kitchen stays about 60 in the winter, the room with the thermostat is 64. I stay cold for 5 to 6 months unless we build a fire.

Not much cooking. This weekend is my one shot at my FIL's metal shop before Christmas, and I needed to make a new wok ring. So time in the shop.
Mind you, I made blini for breakfast, but more about that in a different thread.
Tonight we're having leftover thanksgiving dinner.
My sweetie will be canning lemon curd this week, though, to send out for holidays.

Hi Darcie, Don't get me wrong; I am a Floridian through and through having grown up here. It is 72 in the house and I have a blanket over my lap! However, I'd really like to be able to make some things that require aging, like pancetta or hard cheese, and there really is no way to do it unless I dedicate a big part of my fridge to it. I also get about a 2 week window in Jan where it is cool and dry enough for candy making. And Fuzzy - MMmmmm Lemon Curd. --Lisa

I don't cook post holidays usually. I revel in eating leftovers. Thanksgiving/Christmas in a bun sandwiches are a personal favourite (turkey, mayo, cranberry sauce, cold stuffing, and lettuce....mmmmm). Then there's hot turkey sandwiches with leftover gravy, or just holiday dinner part deux (or 3,4,5....it's all good). I also freeze a bunch of things for a happy surprise later. I still have a stash of stuffing and gravy in my freezer, and an 8x8 of CI's baked Mac and cheese. All waiting for a comfort food type of day.

Very little cooking too. I made turkey stock using the carcass and made soup. The rest has been leftovers, which are plentiful since we had 5 for dinner and a 19.4 lb bird. I thought about making turkey shepards pie but no one seemed interested. Fine with me! Nance

Chili. Test-firing a new induction burner.
It simmers about as well as gas...

Chili here, too, with cornbread. Spent most of the day raking leaves. Pretty cool temp so the chili hit the spot. Looked out this morning and I think there are as many leaves today as there were yesterday. I'm thinking of calling the lawn service!
