I made a version of these Brazilian candies for our Brazilian themed cooking club dinner last night. They were a big hit, fudgey, not overly sweet, nice kick of salt. I used a Lindt 70% dark chocolate bar and a tiny pinch of fleur de sel on top of each candy. I am going to make these again for Easter. I also saw that Fine Cooking had recipes for pistachio and coconut versions that I might just have to try as well. http://www.girlcooksworld.com/2011/02/c ... alted.html  Mary

I used the one in the link from some random web site. The Fine Cooking one was similar except it also had a couple teaspoons of corn syrup in the mix. The Saveur one is more like the recipe I used. Do try the salt though, it put them over the top.

Brazilian was a lot of fun. Anything that starts with caipirinhas is a lot of fun.

Claire,
The recipe I used is the one in the link in my original post. They were really tasty, much better than I expected them to be. They are also very easy, you just have to be patient in letting them cook down. Welcome!

Made some more chocolate PLUS coconut. They are also seriously good. May be time for an intervention.
