Yup, I'm full of Jamie love too. I'm enjoying his 30 minute meals on Food Network Canada at the moment. Makes me want to run everything though my fp and buy an electric kettle!

I caught a couple of his 30 min shows and was quite impressed. Loved the concept of "dressing the board" ( adding herbs and other flavorings to the meat juices on the cutting board). That was new to me in a smack yourself in the head kind of way.

Mary, I thought the same thing....although my second (totally non-cheffy) thought was that this was likely to schmutz my tablecloth. I'm still going to do it though! I love the idea of making the dish in the serving vessel too. Another head-smacking moment for me.

I like that the meals all seem reasonably healthy. Lots of fish, olive oil, veggies and desserts made with fruit and yogurt.

I ate at one of his Italian-ish restaurants in Bath, and was actually impressed for a chain; quite competent tasty food (*), reasonably priced.

(*) I have strong opinions on most NA food that is "Italian", and they aren't nice opinions. It is mostly heavy, over portioned, cheese and or cream centric dishes that are poorly balanced flavour wise and mostly have 'roasted' or 'baked' flavours with some kind of 'tomato' sauce that have no memory of tomato flavour. I'm sure there are excpetions, but this is what I seem to run into the huge majority of time. It is possible that Jamie's restuarant wasn't good for it's genre, but it was so much better then what I can get for Italian food most of the time I might have been pre-maturely overjoyed. Also, an American couple at the bar asked the bar tender if Jamie as in. I don't think they were joking.
