CI's vegetable torta (I did not make this myself, it was my CI friend). It is incredibly good, but she said very time consuming to make.

Thanks for posting this picture, Lynn. I had forgotten about this....I made it once and swore I would never do it again. While it was good, it was not worth the time and the mess I made. I am thrilled to have been reminded never to do it again ilene

Ilene, I have not made it yet myself for the same reason - plus no springform pan, plus I am a LAZY cook most the time. One thing good about it though, is that it was very good served at room temperature. Often it is not easy to think of something for an occasion where you need to travel with it or have something sitting out for a while.
As I was looking through my photos online, I found two of your kitchen that I copied from the CI board for inspration in my remodeling planning. They are so pretty.

Here's a good one for a cold grey foggy day, a sinkful of freshly picked tarragon!

I'm green with envy. My tarragon never looks like that! Nor does any that I buy. Fitzie

That tarragon is something special. I love it in pasta sauce or pizza sauce, that licoricy taste is so distinct. My friend grows it in a half whiskey barrel on the shores of Lake Coeur d'Alene. She brought it back from France somehow (along with bean seeds).
