My sister gave me one of these kits last year for Christmas. I am really impressed with how well it works and the carbonation it infuses. A tank refill or swap is $15. So far, I have only used the syrups that come with the machine. What other liquids can be carbonated?

I've had one of these for years. Mainly for water. Unless the newer models are different, you are only supposed to carbonate water and add flavorings after. The bottles are cheap enough and it is simple to clean so I guess it might be worth a try. I like apple juice or cider mixed with carbonated water. I also like to make lemonade with it. We don't really use the ready made mixes although I have had them and they are not bad. Drink syrups are pretty popular here and some elderflower syrup with a bit of white wine and bubble water is a nice summer sip.

Todd,

This is another example of return-to-the-70s, I swear. I remember that some of my friends had home carbonation machines in around 1977.

I bought one a couple years ago, has not left the box. I think about it on occation though, does that count???

I bought it to carbonate water for Mojito's. I prefer carbonated water to club soda in them. I get may requests for them in the summer. I have been buying the CW at the market out of convienience.

I was at Willie Sonoma and I saw they had bottles of nectar, like pear and such...you could probably use a little nectar to mix with the CW

I made some Ginger simple syrup last night. I will be using it on Christmas Eve for my guests who don't drink. As a fan of Vernors Ginger Ale, I am really looking forward to see how this works.
Thanks for the suggestion.

I won one of these last night at my company holiday party. (actually I won a blue ray player but another colleague won this and we swapped, lol). It didn't come with any syrups and I'm looking for more homemade syrup suggestions. Anyone?

Lucky you! I like this spiced syrup: http://www.marthastewart.com/313365/spi ... mple-syrup

It is great mixed with some apple cider and then a splash of soda water or an orange wedge. Feel free to add rum.

PS Do you have an Ikea in your area? They sell a great blueberry syrup here that I like in soda water.

Buy condensed fruit concentrates - Whole Foods sells pomegranate, cranberry, and black cherry. You can add as little or as much as you like.
