I was talking about this jokingly somewhere, maybe here or in person with friends - we recently had a chance to actually use the microwave to take cold red wine and make it more of a drinkable roomish temp.

It actually worked fantastically to just take the chill off the wine. We used a pyrex measuring cup, then just poured into our glasses. We compared the stuff that had not been temperature moderated with the micro, and it did not have the flavor. No detriment that we saw.

I can't wait to do this in front of my wine snob friends. :)

EB - You could branch out a bit with your efforts and simultaneously serve some frozen, ready-to-serve hors d'oeurves followed by some FROZEN, ready-to-serve variety packs from Healthy Choice, culminating in some ICE CREAM! THERE MIGHT EVEN BE BOOKS ABOUT MICROWAVEABLE ITEMS - WHO KNOWS WHERE THE BOUNDARIES LIE?!?!?!?

  ;)

My local wine gurus have been touting cooler reds as of late, to the point of popping them in the fridge shortly before serving. As soon as we all get that down, they will be suggesting the microwave I'm sure.

Me, I'll drink it like you pour it. :D

Jes,

The market for microwaved beer has gone flat!
