My Dad is in Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Philadelphia and will be for awhile :( so I expect to be spending some time in Philly over the next month or so. Anyone have any recommendations for inexpensive places to eat near the hospital? It's located on 11th and Chestnut. I know the Reading Terminal nearby, as is Chinatown, but hate to walk into places clueless.

Also, I'll be travelling by Peter Pan/Greyhound Bus so I won't have access to a car. Just foot.

TIA

Nancy

Advice from Kris:

Monk's Cafe (Belgian brewpub), Effies (greek, on Pine). And definitely Reading Terminal.

Sorry about your dad, Nancy. I know or used to, unfortunately, places around the Shriner's Hospital, but it's probably not close to where you are.....

I don't have any advice either, just good wishes for your father. I hope you are taking some time to take care of yourself too. Hang in there.

Sorry to hear about your dad. I hope everything works out well. My family has always had great success with Jefferson, so he's in good hands.

Despite living near Philly, I rarely eat over there, so I am clueless as far as restaurants go...I just know shopping places to buy ingredients! A group of us once went to the Aqua restaurant, which was very good, reasonable, and somewhat close to Jefferson.

Thanks everyone for your support. This is a very difficult time for my family and I do appreciate your good wishes. Going back on Friday and having dinner @ Effies.

Also, and sorry not food related, but if anyone in the Philly area has recommendations for a car service for airport to hospital transport that info would be greatly appreciated.
Tx again. You all are the best!
