Any casual or must dine restaurant suggestions for Toronto? We'll be there next week. On my list so far: Mother's Dumpling's and Momofuku on University Ave. A book I took out of the library suggested a peameal bacon sandwich was a must try. Well, if it has bacon it must be good!

Ivy - you are in my hood. Our favourite restaurant is Gio Rana's Really Really Nice Restaurant - yes, that is the name. http://www.yelp.ca/biz/gio-ranas-really ... nt-toronto Try the involtini!
It's a converted bank (the vault is the wine cellar) and does a brisk business. That area of Toronto (Leslieville) may still have some transit construction going on but that's a Toronto norm.
Peameal on a bun is an iconic Canadian sandwich, you will find great ones at the St. Lawrence Market. Peameal bacon is similar to what Americans call Canadian bacon, but not quite the same. Essentially it's a cured pork loin rolled in cornmeal. The market is a fun place to wander through and get nibbles. http://www.stlawrencemarket.com/
Monday here is a holiday in case you didn't know. Although that means less and less over the years wrt store/restaurant closings. The CN Tower is worth a trip up for the view, I've never heard great things about the restaurant and it's pricey. Casa Loma is lovely at this time of year, if you go on a weekend there will be lots of bridal parties.
And Edwards Gardens is a great place for an outdoor walk. (ditto on the bridal parties)
We love the Ontario Science Centre too, but if no kids you might not want to try it. If you have a season's pass to a local science centre it's likely included in the reciprocal program.

Jean - This is great list. Thank you! Visiting Canada is always such a treat because of its gardens & parks. I did not know that Monday is a holiday, thanks for that head's up.

Let me know what your plans are. I'm working and Tuesday is my sister's 50th (to which her husband has still not made plans) but if there's an opportunity to meet I'd love to put a face to your name!
cheers

When I was single this was a great place to hang out at night and look at the city - http://www.dine.to/the_one_eighty

The Yorkville area there is fun for people watching. And there's a Pusateri's there (upscale grocery store) where I once spent over an hour tasting balsamic vinegars and olive oils with 2 people from TOBB when we met up.
