Woo hoo! Next weekend we will be spending in Vegas. Have restaurants set up (Joel Robuchon Atelier, B & B, and Estatorio). Todd, seems to me that you went to Robuchon Atelier. Thoughts?

Have fun! I also liked Hubert Keller's Burger Bar in the Mandelay Bay mall. Not fancy, but tasty. Might make for a good lunch. I liked the breakfast buffet at Paris a lot too. Go early though or it gets busy. The pain au chocolate from the bakery beside the buffet makes a good breakfast too. Oh I'm so jealous!

Phoenix,
For a more casual meal, Otto in the Venetian was pretty good.

We had a lovely lunch at Payard's at the Caesar, even the savory part was great. There is also a fantastic Thai restaurant which is hard to find, Lotus of Siam, one of the best Thai in the country . For a cheap meal there are several good Cuban restaurants (the price does not reflect on the quality and quantity of the food).

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! Alina, if you could tell me where to get the best cuban sandwich I'd be forever grateful I've been to Lotus of Siam. Really good. I'll have to look into Otto, Hubert Keller's burger bar (been there and really liked it). I'll probably not fit into my britches upon my return home... Nancy

We went to different ones each trip, but the one we went every time was Cuba Cafe on E. Tropicana Avenue. It is one of the smallest and least fancy, but the food was always good and the portions generous. I usually had the pork and then bought a sandwich and some appies to take home (we always stayed at a time share, so had kitchen). I've always bring back Cuban sandwiches back home from trips whether in the car or on the plane. I make my Cuban pork really tender so it does not slice well and I always end up eating all the bread before I get to the sandwiches. If you like them, have some crispy tostones and a papa rellena (usually side or appy). We have not used our time share for a while since I've been traveling to see the grandkids, but hope to make it out sometime this year if I can coordinate with some of my cousins. Have fun.

We ate at Joel Robuchon. I never did post a report on our experience which was pretty amazing. If you like cookbooks and you have a car available to you, the Amber Unicorn Bookstore at 2101 S Decatur Blvd. has 16,000 cookbooks in their store. We went to Chef Rubber and the LasVegas School of Pastry Design, but they were closed for remodeling. I was really dissapointed, because Chef Rubber sells lots of unique cooking equipment. One place we wanted to try, but didn't get the chance to go was Penn's Thai House. If you are looking for something special, let me know. I have a Las Vegas dining guide that has all the essential restaurants listed.

Back from Vegas, tired but happy. Robuchon Atelier was wonderful and the chef was there that night. We got signed pictures with him which was really great! B&B and Estatorio Milos were really good too. I don't think I'll be eating much for awhile ...
