Any suggestions for restaurants or otherwise? We're staying at the Le Centre Sheraton.

I've not stayed at the Sheraton, we always stayed at the QE Fairmont since I took the train to Montreal and the station is under the hotel, but the QE is near the Sheraton and we always cabbed it to the restaurant. Other that Gibby's I ate a lot of takeout there or just random restaurants in Old Montreal aw we walked, so not much help.
Old Montreal, if the weather cooperates, is charming and has lots of restaurants. Like most tourist areas, those off the main street offer better food and value.

I'll be in Montreal from April 8-13, with a couple days for pure sightseeing.

Nobody on the board is in Montreal?

Michelle (vtcook) lives about 90 minutes away from Montreal, but in VT. She's (formerly) Canadian although I'm not sure whether she lived in Montreal. She's more active on FB than here - try the Culinary group.

All my favourite places in Montreal are extremely meaty -- Au Pied de Cochon, Le Queue de Cheval, even L'Express is pretty meat heavy. However, it is a city in love with food and culture, so you should find no shortage of things to do.

I love Montreal, but if you have time for a quick trip (2 hours) to Quebec City it's worth the drive. I remember lots of nice restaurants in old Montreal, but no names.
Sadly I am 5 hours away from there and that's our anniversary weekend (20 for me and Chris, 50 for my parents!) so I will be sticking close to home. I keep telling you people - come to Toronto!
