I'm at a conference there June 7-11. Mind you, I'm having some second thoughts about going given the recent vote, but for now I still have my plane tickets.

Anyway, any recommendations on where to eat downtown-ish?

The only food styles in Charlotte that come to mind involve eating pork (maybe chicken, maybe beef...),

Hi Fuzzy, I am a longtime lurker and live just outside of Charlotte. One of my favorite places for a lunch or casual dinner is Savor Cafe' http://savoronmorehead.com/ The 'specials' of the day are always interesting and the regular menu never disappoints - very fresh, local and quintessentially southern. Savor is located a few miles beyond Center City close to Panthers Stadium. Enjoy your visit to Charlotte!!

Yelp had a few interesting picks.

http://www.yelp.com/c/charlotte-nc/vegetarian

Trip advisor also lists quite a few vegetarian recs.
