I'm going to both Austin and Washington DC in the next 6 weeks.

I've been to both places and have a pretty good grip on the most popular good places to eat and do foodie stuff. So I'm looking for some oddball recommendations, stuff off the beaten path which I might not have heard of.

Also, any recommendations on halfway decent restaurants in the Arboretum area of North Austin.

I've had great meals at Pesce in Dupont Circle.

Amy,

No, I haven't. Details? Which city is it in, for one thing?

This is a little bit North of Austin but worth the trip if you have the time, they have more unique Germain beers that you can shake a stick at. A fun unique place I have enjoyed often.

So, I'll be in DC next week.

Nobody on the board is from there, are they?

Laurie from TOBB (used to be runningduo?) is from there, altho I think she may be registered here. I asked Chris and he can't recommend anything, he stays mainly in Baltimore and nothing memorable comes to mind.
