We'll have an opportunity for a lunch and/or dinner in the vicinity of the Aloha Tower. What's to be had?

Take a cab and go to one of Alan Wong's restaurants. I can't remember a specific restaurant by the Aloha Tower but it is a fun, touristy thing to do. (Just because something is touristy doesn't mean it is bad) Are you guys going on a cruise? Have a great time. I loved Hawaii and was very impressed by the foods which I disn't really expect.

The ship's dinner menu for that night included lamb shanks (plus there are no prices on Alan Wong's online menu, which scared us a bit) so we couldn't resist staying onboard...

I'll be there in a couple of months, maybe I'll try out Mr. Wong's. I love the food in Honolulu, always one of my favorite things there.

Wong's was worth the money, he does amazing riffs on local food. The other thing I loved was the Hole In the Wall food tour. Road food Hawaiin style. Best tour I have ever been on. The guides were fantastic and a nice size group. http://www.hawaiifoodtours.com/

I wish I were going to Hawaii...

Ohh, that looks interesting. I'm working during the day, but may well stretch a couple extra to stay. Mind you, I've gotten to know quite a few hole in the walls in Honolulu, but it would be great to learn some more!

The people who run it are fantastic, a husband and wife team. He is an ex-chef and she is a Hawaiian native. They really know so much about the history and culture. We also went to a spice shop and I got some of that special spice mix they put on pineapple and have no idea what it is called. Love it though. If you have the time it is well worth the money.
