Folks,

I'll be in the Ft. Lauderdale / Hollywood area for a week starting Wednesday. It's for a family reunion, so I doubt I'll have free time, but does anyone know the area?

Markets too ... we're renting a house.

Getting down to Miami isn't impossible, but southern portions of the city would be a schlep.

My family all lives in Ft L/Hollywood/Dania. I'll ask.

I really like Il Mulino on Sunrise Blvd. For very casual, the Floridian on Las Olas is always good.

My Mom and my Aunt live in Holiday which is about 10 miles North of Palm Harbor. I will give them a call and see if they have any suggestions. Have you been to the Sponge Docks in Tarpon Springs?

If you make it down to Las Olas, there is store that sells Olive Oil and Flavored Balsamic Vinegar. I wasn't too crazy about the flavors, but the Mother Vinegar was pretty good. It is across the street and down about half a block or so from the Floridian. It is next to a bakery that you might want to check out also.

A friend of my Mom's suggests these restaurants in the Palm Harbor area:

Bon Apetit
www.bonappetitrestaurant.com

Columbia Restaurant in Clearwater

www.columbiarestaurant.com/cleawater.asp

Bob Heilman's Beachcomber Restaurant

www.heilmansbeachcomber.com

Ask to be seated in the dining with the Big Windows.

This is also in Clearwater.

He also mentioned Tarpon Spring for aunhentic Greek Food.

Thanks for the tips about the palm harbor area. I have been to the sponge docks. Pretty cool to see. The Greek food is decent in Tarpon Springs, though my mother's S.O. insists on going to one that he likes which is just so so food. I really appreciate the number of recommendations.
