I'm personally not aware of any but will ask neighbors this weekend. Our village (30 miles south of Albany) has a great new brewery but no culinary delights. The brewery is called "Crossroads". They make 12 craft brews and serve NYS wine only. But no food, yet.
Nance
PS: Would love to meet you Frank but we're usually only upstate weekends. And we're leaving for France Tuesday night so we're returning to NYC this Sunday.

I would love to meet you as well; we might still have the chance on a return trip, as this is the first of several trips.
I'm actually going to Glens Falls but will probably stay in Albany. I am hoping that leaf peeping will be good and foliage will be in it's full Fall regalia.
Never been to that part of the world.

Great then Frank! We'll meet one of these days! Leaves just started changing where we are so you just may be in luck. I've reached out to a couple of neighbors and friends and am waiting to hear back re: "culinary delights". Not really sure that's an apt phrase for Albany cuisine though Nance

Frank, A couple of people have responded but mostly with scratching their heads for recommendations in Albany proper. Seems like many of the better restaurants are in surrounding areas like Clifton Park and Saratoga (which isn't really close either). I know that there is a quaint area near the capital that has some cute bistro-like places but like I said, no one is willing to recommend. I found this link that might be helpful: http://albany.diningguide.com/dl1al.htm. One of the local papers, The Times Union, also has restaurant reviews but they aren't limited to Albany. I'll report back if I get anything that sounds worthy of sharing. Nance PS - Islip, wow, that's a whole other discussion

Just got 3 recommendations for you:
Delmonicos Italian Steakhouse Angelo's 677 Prime The Barnsider
Let me know if you try any of them!
Nance
PS - Just got a 2nd recommendation for Delmonicos.
