One of the better ones from Bowery moved to Chelsea Market quite a few years ago.
I've found that of the few that are still on Bowery they aren't as good as they were even 3-4 yrs ago. Pricier and much less "friendly".
But I agree with Amy that it's worth the trip to see them Becca.

I clearly haven't been down there in a few years! Good to know Nance as I plan on doing my own fair share of shopping when I'm in NY in a few weeks.

Yup, this city has changed, alot (as they all do), but NYC seems to have really exploded in leaps and bounds in the last 5-6 years, thru "you name it" technology.
I haven't been out discovering and walking around like I used to. There is so much to explore, especially in Brooklyn. I just haven't had the time, or energy to do it.
Yet.

Going OT a little more...sorry Becca.

Nance, I want to buy a vegetable sheeter, but don't want to pay the enormous price I can find them for online. Where in the city would you recommend?

It looks like we may get there sooner rather than later! I think we might try to fly out August 12-18th. So how is the weather then? I am from Louisiana so I assume it will be no worse than here. I am so excited about this now that we have possible dates.

Bridge Kitchenware has left Manhattan for the wilds of NJ. I stopped by the warehouse/store on my way back to Chicago. It's right off the interstate, and they have a set of clearance shelves filled with oddities and there's a discount for getting stuff in person.
Good heavens! I went to get you the address, and found that they have to move AGAIN. There are all sorts of sales going on!
buy! buy! buy!

Becky,

Are you trying to part me from my money? I happen to be in NJ today. I guess I know where I'm going...

Becca,

It will be very hot and humid. (And, unfortunately NYC seems to take on a decided odor by that point in the summer.) But, the museums are nice and cool, and the subways are all air conditioned, so there's always respite somewhere.
