Becca, look into your nearest children or family museum for a family pass. Most do a reciprical agreement with other museaums all over NA, I used ours in chicago, boston and NY. Great value if you plan to visit any museums.
Here's a link to the list of participating museums....there's one in Jersey city :D http://www.astc.org/members/pdf/LargePrint_0511.pdf

Wow! Sorry for the hijack Becca, but I just got back from Bridge. OMG...I got over $600 of stuff for under $300. If any of you are fans of Apilco, they are closing out all of theirs, and it's really, really cheap. They have some (but not all) of it on their website.

Even with shipping I saved a fortune.

It looks like we may get there sooner rather than later! I think we might try to fly out August 12-18th. So how is the weather then? I am from Louisiana so I assume it will be no worse than here. I am so excited about this now that we have possible dates.

Looks like we will be in NYC at the same time.
I have to bring my daughter to school in Brooklyn on the the 17th (GULP) so am planning on being there the 16-19th (maybe 15th). It can be really hot and humid, as Amy said, but not more than you are used to. What is different is you are out a lot more and the buildings and blacktop throw a lot of heat at you and you are not going from house to car. It is still New York though so worth a bit of perspiration.

My tips of the day (and for the kids NOT the food) are The Jekyll and Hyde Club http://www.jekyllandhydeclub.com/locations.htm
and Ellen's Stardust Diner http://www.ellensstardustdiner.com/about.html. The waitstaff working at these places are aspiring performers and very talented. Extremely touristy but it works well to make everybody happy (I am personally trying to decide how to avoid Time's Square next time out though).

Amy,

I escaped with a fraction of your total but really appreciate the notice.

It must have been nice being at Bridge Kitchenware without having the dear departed Fred insulting your queries.

Oval disher, ramekins and oval baking dishes. The prices were incredible,

The highest priced thing I bought was an Apilco gravy boat (believe it or not, I've never owned one). But I splurged on some Apilco scallop dishes (not on the website). I've wanted them for a long time. I also got a bunch of serving dishes. I'm kind of regretting I didn't buy some ramekins. May have to place another order.
