That is 30 minutes from me, Frank! I assume you are flying in/out of Mpls. What kind of food are you looking for and how much time do you have? Of course, you could always come to our place!

Not sure at all about schedule, flights or anything, have gotten that far. Just got the task order Friday.

I see me bringing something from Texas in exchange for Darcies Desserts! :)

Well, even though we had a date mixup, Frank, Greg and I (and Frank's cohorts Shane & Al) got together for dinner tonight.

We started with some appetizers:

Carmelized onion, herbed goat cheese, cranberry chutney and roasted garlic, and a wedge of St. Pete's Select blue cheese (made right here in Faribault).

After the guys toured our indoor motorcycle museum, it was on to the main event.

We had a spinach salad with hot bacon dressing:

I didn't do a good job tossing the salad together but it was pretty tasty. But how can you go wrong with bacon?

Here's Frank with the brisket:

(No, he didn't eat all that LOL)
Unfortunately, the brisket suffered from sitting and was dry. Somehow everyone managed to choke it down.

We had homemade white bread to accompany the brisket (I didn't get a photo of the finished product):

To help wash it all down ;) we had a very lovely Spanish Rioja. (Thanks, Amy! Great recommendation, of course.)

Of course, dessert was the best part. First, coconut cream tartlets (I HAD to make coconut cream, didn't I?):

Also mini cakes (white and chocolate), with whipped chocolate ganache filling and a chocolate butter glaze:

But the best part was, as usual, the company:

We had a great time and the evening ended too quickly. Come back soon, Frank (and bring Shane and Al too)!

It looks like so much fun. I love it when peeps can find a way to meet up. And, if one of us can make dinner for the other all the better. Dinner looks fabulous, and the desserts, well I want one or two or.......

Glad it worked out and you had such a nice time! I am so jealous.

Al, and Shane could not quit talking about the entire experience, and how warm and welcoming Greg and Darcie both were on our trip back to MSP. I of course was not the least surprised

The food was incredible (duh) but the hospitality was even better.

Shane insisted that I get the salad recipe for him. Al could not quit talking about the chocolate dessert, for me as you know I have a special place in my heart for coconut cream pie  The meal and experience was so refreshing for a band of road warriors away from home.

Amy did a little spy work for me and helped me to choose a wine that I could not pronounce that was very well received...thanks Amy!

This my friends is what TOBB used to be, and who we are here...all are welcomed at the table(s) of friendship!!

Darcie, Greg, thank you for a memory that will last a lifetime...your friend, Frank

PS Wino, Darcie dumped a sack of flour on my head as a parting gift...

That looks fantastic. And Frank, you are adorable (Darcie too but I have seen your picture before). I was thinking something more Deputy Dawg but I was way off.
Now I would like to have someone come to my house for dinner, but I would probably screw it up. Sabine came here once for an afternoon and it was a fiasco (food wise). I took her to a restaurant that I thought her young niece would love. They grew their own veggies, it was on a farm, they had a menagerie and a stork nesting on the roof (with a stork cam so you could see in the nest), very Swiss kitchen. They place was under new ownership and the the food was meh, the place was dirty the animals were gone and the the beets on the salad bar were spoiled. I told the waitress and she looked totally disinterested. Luckily Sabine is a good sport but she really needs to come back so I can redeem myself somewhat.

I think I would need to pick up a script for valium before I cooked for any of you though and, fair warning, I kind of suck at dessert. Now come on over.

Mary
