Anybody cooking anything special? I'm not, so please serenade me with some virtual yum!

Crescent Dragonwagon's Black-Eyed Pea Soup-Stew with Arkansalsa and Crème Fraiche. Well, actually, sour cream since I forgot to make crème fraiche. Might make Vaslopita, too. They don't really go together, but I love Vaslopita toast.

I am off to a party but am bringing chicken wings and a Danish cheese ring to an already over burdened buffet table.

Grandsons are coming and we're having a finger food feast: shrimp, chicken wings, steak cubes, and salami roll-ups. Four or five sauces. Haven't decided exactly what. Ice cream sundaes for dessert. We'll see who makes it to midnight.

Happy New Year!

We are having a great food day. Pete made a ham & asparagus quiche yesterday which we will finish up for breakfast with maybe a side of shrimp that we need to eat.

Lunch will be bunny stew with prunes that I made a few days ago & we didn't get to eat yet.

For dinner - I think we will have scallops with brown butter & spinach with shallots & garlic (a recent email suggestion from somewhere). We will also have escargot & champagne.

We were supposed to go to the shore for the weekend as we have been doing for many years, but because of the new addition to our family we couldn't go. We will have a great evening anyway!

I haven't decided yet. I'm off to the fishmonger this morning to see what they have. I've gotten seriously addicted to cooking proteins sous vide, so I'll likely do a couple of different things. We have two exquisite bottles of Premier Cru Champagne, so I'll do a little planning around that.

Kathy,

I have a bunny in the freezer...forgot about that until you mentioned your stew. I like the idea of prunes with it. Do you use a recipe?

I'm thinking scallops for dinner as well (perhaps in a beurre blanc), but want to wait to see what else might be fresh.

On New Years Day I found some duck breasts 25% off so I am making them. I saw a chipotle orange sauce in epicurious that I am making with it. My fussy daughter is off snowboarding for a few days so I am diligently making things she doesn't like. There are some scallops in the freezer too... yum.
