I serve Poinsettias (Champagne and Cranberry Juice) on Christmas Eve. It's easy, the right color and the only people who don't drink them are the non-drinkers. What do you serve?

I have a bottle of Moet pink champagne that I think needs serving. I also liked a bit of mulled cider with a shot of Calvados. Or 2 shots maybe.

I was just getting into shape with "It's A Wonderful Life" and a bottle of red. Don't want to go in cold to game day.

I was planning on a bottle of Unibroue's Éphémère, but our company canceled and I haven't the heart to send Geekboy out on Xmas Eve for it. Maybe I'll have a 7 and 7 for old time's sake. It's what my grandparents always served at the holidays and grandpa was awfully forgetful about where he had put his down.

All,

A couple of our guests for dinner are winos, so they're bringing. I don't know what, but it'll be something high-end.

We're going to a friend's house for curry tomorrow (as you might expect, not a religious Christian celebration), any suggestions for a drink that pairs with curry? I have a riesling I could take, but I was wondering if anyone knew of a cocktail that would work.

I had caipirinha recently that was made with kumquats instead of limes and I think that would work a treat.

Too bad I don't have any cachaça or kumquats on hand...and everything is closed now and through tomorrow. But I might be able to make something along those lines with rum, lime and tangerine, all of which I do have. Thanks!

Mary,

Wow, I'll have to try that. I have tons of cacacha (business trips to Brazil), and kumquat season is just starting. Did they mash the kumquats, like limes?

If I remember correctly (they were pretty strong and I had 2 so bear with me) they had a bunch of sliced kumquats mashed at the bottom then ice, cacacha and topped with either 7 up or club soda (I would go with club soda). I would even try it just subbing the kumquats for lime.
