All,

Is anyone hosting a July 4 party? What are you making?

We're doing hamburgers, salmon burgers, Diane Kochilas' watermelon-feta salad, and 3 flavors of cupcakes. Other people are bringing salads.

You?

I'm working. Now that I'm a full-time chef, holidays are not my own.

We are going to try to get to the lake early - 98 degrees here! Steaks, potato salad, Ina's berry salad with limoncello sangria, and try to keep cool.

Pulled pork. The pork picnic's going onto the WSM about 10 tonight to be done by 4 or 5 tomorrow. BBQ sauce from scratch from a CI recipe.
Corn on the cob -- local corn is in, as are tomatoes, berries, apricots, plums, cherries, blueberries, blackberries...
Caprese salad
Coleslaw
Guests are bringing pasta salad & dessert.
Mojitos.

We've had phenominal weather the last few days (upper 70s and low humidity) but it's going into the upper 90s tomorrow.

Amy, What kind of place are you working at?

Hey Pete,

I smoked a butt a few weeks ago...I just love pulled pork. I use Eric's rub and sauce recipes, which I really enjoy. I wish I could smoke more often, but this time of year it's hard in Colorado. The winds tend to be high, and it's very, very dry here. Living on this mesa the last thing I need to worry about is the potential of starting a wild fire.

I have two jobs. I'm the Assistant Pastry Chef at Cosmopolitan (known as Cosmo). It's one of our top fine dining restaurants. And, I'm head Chef for Telluride's oldest caterer. Between the two when I'm busy, I'm slammed. The nice thing is I get a fair amount of time off in our "shoulder" seasons--early April to late May, and then again from mid-October until almost Thanksgiving.

Hope the humidity doesn't come back with the heat!

Amy

Not entertaining, but we're having Flank Steak, corn on the cob, Tomato Pie and blueberry cobbler. Manhattons on the rocks go nicely don't you think! ;)

Hot and windy here today, 90's, putting in a new flower bed around the hot tub deck, it's long over due.

Laurie

Amy,

Glad to hear you're busy. Sadly, Colorado has no tech industry to speak of, so no excuses for me to visit ...
