So we are having the family traditional steak a dneggd and hash browns. What will be served at your place? Will it be before or after opening gifts? How essential is coffee first?

Yes to coffee first for everyone, and kids will have breakfast as well. Then gifts, and then my daughter and step son cook breakfast, waffles, bacon and maybe eggs. This year we will have an early dinner because my granddaughter requested steak fries (breaded Cuban steak) and both my sons are leaving after dinner Christmas Day. No clue about sides except salad. We do a big Cuban Christmas eve dinner so some will be eating leftovers as well.

We always do a lox & bagel breakfast, with the works. I've already picked up pumpernickel bagels from the new baglery in my neighborhood.

This used to include mimosas, but pretty much all of us are on restricted alcohol intake these days.

We made sticky buns and had bacon and eggs. Very simple. Dinner was rib roast and sautéed shrimp for the non-meat eaters. Kenji’s roasted potatoes, green beans and salad. Kinda traditional. Oh, and Christmas coolies and chocolates brought back from Bariloche.

Christmas day we all swore off food for the FOLLOWING morning - except for some reheated ‘this&that’.....

HOWEVER, I woke early and made a rather complex fresh fruit salad, put a pound of bacon in the oven, finished off a older half loaf of sourdough readying it for toast, and discovered some elderly button mushrooms begging to be caramelized with a bit of Vidalia onion and the end of some cheddar to grate into the last 8 eggs (scrambled, of course).

Somehow everyone found ‘tummy space’ ;-)
