So, nu?

We're inviting over some friends, and then repeating the meal with some other stuff with my aunt the next day. I plan to actually make Sephardic matzoh ball soup this year, partly to go with these: http://pdx.eater.com/2017/3/31/15138382 ... d-bakeshop

What's everyone else doing?

I have no idea and we probably should figure it out soon.....

Likely a combination of families with everyone bringing something, and I'll probably do a leg of lamb to contribute. I'm back at Weight Watchers so really need to plan so I can eat everything. ;-)

We don't celebrate either holiday and are travelling on top of that ... Dallas. Yay. Need to find some places to eat in Dallas that aren't a chain...

I don't cook for holidays anymore. Chris will be traveling on Good Friday (where I usually make a vegetarian pasta because he doesn't eat meat on Good Friday) and since his sister has 3 small children, we do holiday dinners now at my MIL's because her house is childproof and the kids have toys there (neither of which is true at our house). So I basically just show up. It's sad in some ways because I used to enjoy hosting the holidays, but in other ways I have to admit that it's much easier.

I have always let others take care of Easter foods, as this is my busy time of year with my "farming". I usually make some sweet dish, but haven't even thought about that yet. I just did a huge trimming of my rosemary plants, and set some aside for my sister to use on something for Easter - the rest I take to work in a trash bag, so anyone who wants it can put it to good use.

We are having 12 for seder. Soup, matzah balls, gefilite fish for starters, coulibiac and kugle as a main course. I will peruse my Passover dessert recipes and do whatever seems fun.

Becky: wait, I thought coulibiac was breaded? How did that work?

Coulibiac basically isn't kosher for Passover but I made it anyway. As a Jew I would have to work at being less observant of the rules the orthodox love, and I felt hypocritical to pretend otherwise for one meal.
I did have vegetarian and non vegetarian options available though-as well as wine and not-wine fancy grape juices.

Chicken soup
Vegetable soup
Matzah balls
Hard boiled eggs in salt water
Chopped liver
Gefilte fish
Charoset
Salmon coulibiac
Vegetable coulibiac
Asparagus
Noodle kugel
Chocolate whipped cream roulade

My friends brought some stuff over, so we had:

"sephardic" Matzoh ball soup with a tomato-saffron soup base
medieval Spanish matzoh (homemade)
homemade labneh with olive oil and pistacios
potato cakes with halloumi
sauteed mushrooms
bailah (chickpea-parsley salad)
butterscotch pudding with whipped cream and "matzoh crack"
way too much wine (everyone brought wine)
