We went to Au Pied De Cochon, the one in Montreal, not the one in Paris, though I have been to that one too. Wonderful meals in both places; the primary problem for the one in montreal is that you feel full for days. Our three year old went too, and it worked out amazingly enough.

We had a wedding on Saturday night so put off the turkey till Monday. My mom made the turkey, I made an eye of round on the rotisserie along with some sides and desserts and my sister hosted. 3 kinds of potatoes (sweet mashed, baked russets and twice baked russets), zucchini/corn fritters, shredded broccoli, rice stuffing, and Dorie Greenspan's "Pumpkin stuffed with Everything Good". And salad.
Tons of desserts including Smitten Kitchen's "Pumpkin Cinnamon Rolls". Stuffed!

No turkey day here till next month but as it was 23ºF this morning I think it's a good day for a hot bowl of chili:

Spicy Touchdown Chili

1 lb ground beef
1 lb bulk pork sausage
2 cans (16 ounces each) kidney beans, rinsed and drained
2 cans (15 ounces each) pinto beans, rinsed and drained
2 cans (14-1/2 ounces each ) diced tomatoes with mild green chilies, undrained
1 can (14-1/2 ounces) diced tomatoes with onions, undrained
1 can (12 ounces) beer
6 bacon strips, cooked and crumbled
1 small onion, chopped
1/4 cup chili powder
1/4 cup chopped pickled jalapeno slices
2 tsp ground cumin
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 tsp dried basil
3/4 tsp cayenne pepper

In a large skillet, cook beef over medium heat 6-8 minutes or until no longer pink, breaking into crumbles; drain. Transfer to a 6-qt. slow cooker. Repeat with sausage.

Stir in remaining ingredients. Cook, covered, on low 4-5 hours or until heated through.

Yield: 12 servings (3 quarts).

While some think there should never be beans in chili, I always have them in mine; why not? It just adds more flavor.
